Trent Valley Way - new route confirmed 09 January 2012

New sections of the Trent Valley Way have been agreed within the Trent Vale area around Gainsborough.

The Trent Valley Way gets a revamp in Trent Vale.

The OnTrent Partnership has now agreed a new route for the Trent Valley Way, with new sections from Littleborough, south of Gainsborough, to the Humber, all following existing Rights of Way.

'We worked with Debby Braund at Lincolnshire Rights of Way to find a route on the Lincolnshire side of the River Trent to come through Gainsborough but there just weren't enough paths near the river,' said OnTrent Project Manager Julie Wozniczka. However, an alternative route has been agreed from Littleborough, passing right by the bridge at Gainsborough through West Stockwith to Haxey, then Isle of Epworth, via Scunthorpe to finish at Alkborough where there is a fantastic ancient maze at Julian's Bower.

The next phase has now commenced and OnTrent are working with secondary schools in Gainsborough to design guides for a series of short walks from Littleborough to West Stockwith. We'd like to encourage everybody to walk along the Trent, our country's third longest river. If you would like to see the route and follow progress go to:
